Message I'm a little perplexed as to the problem.. CA rules say you can put viritually any motor in any car that is the same year or newer than the car, as long as all the Smog Stuff for that Motor come with it ( and ECU ). a few varations on that rule exist..
The Nissan 300 engines do not have an engine number that really means anything to anybody except the nissan folks that built the car.. so no vin numbers are avalable to date the engine.. so I think you are good there.. Even if it's a JDM.. no way to tell for the Smog Ref

If you have a TT Motor in a NA Car, it's a Transplant, and it must be 'BAR'd' with a Sticker. You must have all the Smog Stuff that the TT's were built with.. including all the STOCK Piping ( intakes and exhaust ).. and working EGR, evap
Get all the Stock TT Stuff on the Car.. Have a Stock TT ECU from the Same year or newer than your Car.. ( They might Check the ECU ID plate ).. and get the car taken to a BAR station and start the process.. it's a PAIN, as depending on the Ref, it may or may not go well..

If it looks stock.. runs stock and has no 'Shinny Shit' visable to distract the Ref, likely it will pass, and then you have a Ca, BAR TT..

It's been done in other Forums with other car-engine transplants..

What am I missing here?..
